Did you know that there are 4,100 homeless children and 20,000 households that need computers in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School District? Pat Millen, founder of E2D (Eliminate the Digital Divide), shared these statistics at Ballantyne’s first Togetherhood meeting of the year on January 16. Pat also shared E2D’s goal to distribute 5,000 computers to student families in need in 2018. You can help E2D meet its goal by donating to Ballantyne’s eCycling Drive January 24-26.

Congratulations to Susan DeVore, president and CEO of Premier, Inc., for winning Charlotte Business Journal’s 2018 Lifetime Achievement Award! Susan and 25 other outstanding business women in Charlotte will be recognized for their contributions to their professions and communities at the Women in Business Awards on Monday, February 12.

The Ballantyne raised more than $12,000 to benefit Levine Children’s Hospital during its signature holiday event. Out of 70 entrants, Mary, Anna and Jean Polking won the People’s Choice Award for their Cathedral creation. Attendees voted for their favorite gingerbread creation with a minimum donation of $1 to Levine Children’s Hospital.

Ballantyne Ball is partnering with Everything But The House (EBTH) to raise money for this year’s beneficiary, HeartBright Foundation, by hosting an online auction with items donated by the community. Support the cause by donating items such as antiques, art, jewelry and watches, clothes, accessories and more the week of January 22.

Join us for the first free tenant lunch seminar of the year, Better Business through Strengths, by Doug Bacon, managing director at Throwing Words on Thursday, February 1. In this seminar, Doug will share how leverage Gallup’s StrengthsFinder tool for individual and team performance. Prior to the session, attendees will have the opportunity to complete the StrengthsFinder assessment, which Doug defines as “a personal discovery treat.”

Join the Togetherhood committee for a great volunteer opportunity at Sara’s YMCA on Tuesday, January 23. Stop by the community room between 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. to help create hand-made dog toys, scarves, flashcards and book buddies benefitting several local nonprofits. The whole community is invited to volunteer!
