Volunteer with Togetherhood at Ballantyne’s Earth Day Event

Togetherhood is hosting a volunteer opportunity to benefit the YMCA’s Y Readers program at Ballantyne’s Earth Day event on Friday, April 20.  Stop by the Brixham Tent between 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. to create “book worms” and write letters of encouragement to the students in the program. Bring a book for ages K-3 to donate to the project.

Special thanks to Wells Fargo for giving us a head start on the project by creating 50 reading kits at the Servicing Leadership Lab of Wells Fargo hosted in Ballantyne on April 3.

Studies show that one in six children who do not read proficiently by 3rd grade fail to graduate high school on time. The mission of Y Readers is to provide the additional support that students need to be proficient in reading by the end of third grade. This program helps give children the opportunity to succeed in high school and beyond. View last year’s Y Readers Impact Report.
