Earth Day Event & Recycling Opportunities

April 20 @ 11:30 am - 1:30 pm

On Friday, April 20, 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., join Ballantyne for its annual community event featuring music, a farmer’s market, food truck fare, on-site dog adoptions, great giveaways and over 40 local vendors showcasing their sustainable efforts or green products at the Brixham Tent. Take advantage of free, secure shredding and recycling opportunities beginning at 7 a.m. and participate in a hands-on volunteer project with Togetherhood.

-Free, secure shredding provided by Shred It
-Expired, unused medicine or medical supplies with Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office
-Household items, clothing and digital devices to benefit Goodwill
-Used laptops for E2D
-New or used swim gear including bathing suits, goggles, beach towels and spray sunscreen for the YMCA‘s Safety Around Water program
-New or used books for all ages to support Promising Pages

The community is also invited to participate in a hands-on Togetherhood volunteer project benefiting the YMCA’s Y Readers program. Stop by the Brixham Tent during the main event to create bookworms and write letters of inspiration to encourage reading among local students over the summer break. Bring a new or used children’s book donation to complete the reading kits.
