Join the YMCA’s mission to prevent childhood drownings by helping assemble information and swim supplies for its Safety Around Water program at the next Togetherhood project on Thursday, May 23, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., at Sara’s YMCA.
Safety Around Water is a free water safety outreach program provided to low-income youth living in local apartment communities. Certified YMCA Swim Instructors and YMCA Lifeguards educate young residents about water safety issues through instruction and awareness-building. Safety Around Water gives children, at the greatest risk, the opportunity to learn basic water safety and swimming skills.

Many children attending these swim lessons do not have the proper equipment, so we invite volunteers to bring new or used swimsuits, goggles and towels as well as new bottles of sunscreen to contribute to the mission.
Chick-fil-A at Stonecrest Piper Glen will provide food for the volunteers while supplies last.
