- 5 Ways to Fight Hunger This Holiday Season
Over 500,000 people in our region live in poverty and are at risk of hunger. Make a difference in these lives by supporting the Ballantyne Virtual Food Drive benefitting Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina. Here are five easy ways to get involved.
Donate online to make a greater impact. Monetary donations allow Second Harvest to provide healthier options like fresh meats and produce, and just $1 provides seven pounds of food to men, women and children in local shelters.
Verde‘s Ballantyne location is donating $1 to the food drive for every order of its Greensgiving bowl or wrap made during November.
Have lunch delivered directly to your office by ordering through Foodsby November 18-22, and $1 of each order will be donated back to the cause.
David Weekley Homes‘ annual turkey drive is back! Drop off a frozen turkey or cash donation at the Gibson Building on November 6, noon – 1:30 p.m., and enjoy festive activities including a chili cook-off competition among David Weekley team members.
Help assemble 30,000 meals for local families and children in need by volunteering with Togetherhood at the Feed the Hunger Pack-a-thon on November 15, 3-5 p.m., at the Morrison Family YMCA. This project is a two-hour commitment and is intended for ages 8 years and up. All meals will be distributed locally through Feed the Hunger.
