- 5 Ways to Fight Hunger This Holiday Season
Over 500,000 people in our region live in poverty and are at risk of hunger. Make a difference in these lives by supporting the Ballantyne Virtual Food Drive benefitting Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina. Here are five easy ways to get involved.
1. Donate online throughout November.
Donate online to make a greater impact. Monetary donations allow Second Harvest to provide healthier options like fresh meats and produce, and just $1 provides seven pounds of food to men, women and children in local shelters.
3. Order lunch through Foodsby the week of November 5.
Have lunch delivered directly to your office by ordering through Foodsby November 5-9, and $1 of each order will be donated back to the cause.
4. Donate a frozen turkey.
David Weekley Homes‘ annual turkey drive is back! Drop off a frozen turkey or cash donation at the Gibson Building on November 7, noon – 1:30 p.m., and enjoy festive activities including a chili cook-off competition among David Weekley team members.
5. Volunteer with Togetherhood.
On November 13, stop by Sara’s YMCA at 8 a.m. to help prepare essential hygiene kits and write festive holiday cards for those in need. Volunteers will enjoy a complimentary breakfast from Chick-fil-A StoneCrest at Piper Glen while supplies last. Make a monetary donation onsite to support the cause ($1 provides seven pounds of food!). All kits will be distributed to local shelters. Register now to secure your volunteer spot.
