Togetherhood Safety Around Water Volunteer Project

Help assemble swim materials for local children in need at the Togetherhood Safety Around Water Volunteer Project on May 23, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., at Sara’s YMCA.

In this project, volunteers will help prepare informational materials and swim supplies that will be given to participants in the YMCA’s Safety Around Water program. Join the cause by signing up for a volunteer shift!

Safety Around Water is a free water safety outreach program provided to low-income youth living in local apartment communities. Certified YMCA Swim Instructors and YMCA Lifeguards educate young residents about water safety issues through instruction and awareness-building. Safety Around Water gives children, at the greatest risk, the opportunity to learn basic water safety and swimming skills.

Many children attending these swim lessons do not have the proper equipment, so we invite volunteers to bring new or used swimsuits, goggles and towels as well as new bottles of sunscreen to contribute to the mission.

Chick-fil-A at Stonecrest Piper Glen will provide food for the volunteers while supplies last.
