The American Red Cross has sent out an urgent request for funds assistance for Hurricanes Irma and Maria relief efforts. Volunteer recovery teams have already deployed to the region to help residents in need. The effects of this hurricane are detrimental, and your donation can make a difference. Your involvement will support research and awareness efforts for Neuroblastoma, a rare form of childhood cancer. Ballantyne Whiskey Fest

On Saturday, October 21, join The Ballantyne for a once-in-a-lifetime event for bourbon and all whiskey lovers. The day-long event will include whiskeys from around the world tastings from noon to 4 p.m. Educational seminars will be hosted during this time by each of the brand ambassadors and followed by a cocktail reception at 6:30 p.m. and Bourbon Ball Dinner from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
In conjunction with the seminars, attendees can enjoy tastings, live entertainment and cocktail demonstrations by local mixologists at The Ballantyne’s South Lawn. The cost is $275 per person (inclusive) and includes admission to the tasting, two educational seminars (first-come, first-served basis) and cocktails and dinner. Meet this year’s political candidates while enjoying free chili and barbecue at the Ballantyne Community Candidates Picnic, hosted by Ballantyne Breakfast Club, Charlotte Chamber Ballantyne Chapter, Morrison Family YMCA and Sara’s YMCA, on Sunday, October 15, 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. at The Ballantyne’s South Lawn.
The event will include a chili cook-off with an array of participants and menu samples from City Barbecue and Ted’s Montana Grill. The community will also have the opportunity to hear from mayoral candidates Vi Lyles and Kenny Smith in a Q&A session at 3:30 p.m.

Stop by the Brixham Tent between 4:30-8 p.m. to enjoy local beer and wine, food truck fare, games, music and mingling. Sara’s YMCA personal trainers will lead free, drop-in fitness activities near the tent from 5-7 p.m. including outdoor yoga, bootcamp, cardio dance and a walking/running group. All proceeds benefit the YMCA’s Annual Campaign to assist local families in need. This is event is free and open to all, so bring a friend!
