The workday moves fast. Back-to-back meetings, packed inboxes and constant screen time can wear on even the most motivated teams. At Ballantyne, stepping away to reset doesn't require leaving campus. With more than 100 acres of green space, programmed outdoor areas and amenities designed around the employee experience, there are genuine options for recharging between tasks.

1. Walk a Call with Conference Call Loops + Trails

Ballantyne's newest outdoor feature flips the concept of a routine phone call into something worth looking forward to. Conference Call Loops + Trails are six designated routes on the east side of campus, each named after a familiar workplace phrase like "Touch Base," "Deep Dive" and "Take it Offline." Routes range from 0.5 to 1 mile and are color-coded, trail-marked and mapped on AllTrails for easy reference.

The loops pass through Ballantyne's Backyard, the Crash Course Disc Golf Course and The Bowl at Ballantyne and are timed to align with a typical 10 to 20-minute conversation. Turning a calendar block into fresh-air time is one of the simplest ways to break up the day, and the trails make it easy.

2. Work Outside at Brixham Park

Sometimes a change of scenery is all it takes to shift perspective. Brixham Park, located on the west side of campus, offers complimentary Wi-Fi alongside open and covered seating, making it a practical choice for getting actual work done outside. The park features an activity lawn, a shaded pavilion and a resident honeybee apiary that gives the space a distinctive, calming character.

Throughout the year, Northwood Office's community engagement team programs the park with food trucks, markets, fitness classes and social events. Check the customer event schedule to see what's coming up.

3. Grab Lunch from a Food Truck

Stepping out for a midday meal genuinely resets the afternoon. Ballantyne's food truck lineup brings local vendors to campus regularly, giving employees a reason to get outside, connect with colleagues and eat something worth leaving their desk for. A quick lunch with a coworker also does more for team energy than an extra hour at a screen.

4. Take a Loop Around Cullman Park

Not every break needs a plan. Cullman Park sits at the heart of campus and offers a peaceful pond, a tranquil waterfall and shaded seating that invites people to slow down, even for just a few minutes. A 10-minute walk around the water is enough to lower stress, clear mental clutter and return to the afternoon with better focus.

The connection between time in nature and improved mood and cognitive performance is well-documented. At Ballantyne, that kind of reset is a short walk from virtually any building on campus.

5. Try a Fitness Class or Hit the Fit Trail

Physical movement is one of the most effective ways to sustain energy through the workday. Employees at Ballantyne have access to wellness programming through the campus fitness offerings, including seasonal classes at Brixham Park. For those who prefer to move at their own pace, The Fit Trail offers a self-guided outdoor workout experience built into the campus trail system.

Building movement into the day is easier when the infrastructure is already there, and Ballantyne was designed with that in mind.
